Japan stocks closed higher with the Nikkei rising 0.39%. Top performers include Furukawa Electric Co. up 18.64%, Obayashi Corp. up 13.39%, and Eneos Holdings Inc up 10.76%. Kajima Corp. down 8.89%, Tosoh Corp. down 8.61%, Daiwa Securities Group Inc. down 6.82%. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Shares in Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. and Eneos Holdings Inc. reached 5-year highs. The Nikkei 225 options implied volatility rose 3.54%. Crude oil for June delivery was up to $79.22 a barrel, Brent oil for July at $83.47 a barrel, and June Gold Futures at $2,345.90 a troy ounce. USD/JPY up 0.20% to 156.51, EUR/JPY rose 0.12% to 168.77, and the US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 105.18.
