Nearly 9 out of 10 employees at Klarna are now using generative artificial intelligence tools daily, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT and an internal AI assistant. Over 87% of employees in non-technical groups are utilizing AI, exceeding broader corporate AI adoption rates.

Klarna’s internal AI assistant, Kiki, responds to 2,000 queries a day. Generative AI, such as ChatGPT, is used for evaluating press articles and drafting common contract types. Lawyers create first drafts in minutes as opposed to hours, enhancing efficiency within the company.

Klarna has embraced AI to boost profitability following layoffs in 2022 to prepare for economic turbulence. The company reported its first profit in four years in September 2022, attributing it to AI investments. The AI chatbot saved $40 million by doing the work of 700 full-time customer service jobs.
