OpenAI is establishing a safety and security committee and training a new AI model to replace the GPT-4 system for its ChatGPT chatbot. The committee will advise on crucial decisions. Former OpenAI researcher Jan Leike joined rival AI company Anthropic. The company asserts its models lead the industry in capability and safety. CEO Sam Altman and Chairman Bret Taylor are on the safety committee. The committee’s first task is to evaluate and improve processes. Recommendations will be publicly released.
