OpenAI is not working on an AI search engine, as clarified by Sam Altman in response to rumors. Instead, the company is focusing on new ChatGPT and GPT-4 updates. Google stocks, which dropped by 2%, have now recovered post-clarification.

Rumors of OpenAI launching an AI-powered search engine circulated, with reports of poaching Google employees and a domain registered for the search product. Microsoft’s potential involvement made the rumors more believable. Speculations include the search engine using diagrams and pictures in responses and Microsoft backing the project.

OpenAI is confirmed to be working on enhancing ChatGPT by giving it memory to personalize user interactions. Plans for ChatGPT-5 are denied by Altman. The company declined to comment on the search engine speculation. Additionally, OpenAI is developing voice cloning tech with no official release date.
