OpenAI, led by Sam Altman, inked partnerships with The Atlantic and Vox Media to train its AI tools and enhance its language models using content and archives. The deals, following a prior agreement with News Corp, will benefit both OpenAI and the news publishers financially by bridging the revenue gap with internet giants.

Vox Media stated that its partnership with OpenAI will help develop new products for consumers and advertisers by utilizing Vox Media’s archives. The Atlantic will collaborate with OpenAI to create an experimental microsite called Atlantic Labs to pilot OpenAI’s technology and explore the potential for AI-driven product development. These partnerships highlight the potential for beneficial collaborations between media and tech platforms, according to The Atlantic’s CEO Nicholas Thompson.
