Sensex, Nifty Open Lower On Rate Worries, Heightened Geopolitical Tensions

Indian shares opened lower due to a jump in dollar and bond yields, as well as hawkish comments from a Fed official. The Sensex was down 0.4% and Nifty down 0.5%. Oil prices surged amid Middle East tensions and election anxiety. Tata Consumer, ICICI Bank, HDFC Life, SBI Life, and Mahindra & Mahindra fell. Brigade Enterprises jumped 5% on strong Q4 profit growth, while NBCC India surged 4% on a 25% Q4 profit increase. Reliance Industries maintained after a deal with Rosneft. IRCTC dropped 5% on weak fourth-quarter results, while Wockhardt rose 1.3% Hindalco Industries gained 1% and Adani Enterprises rose 0.6% on IPO and fundraising news.
