OpenAI introduces GPT-4o, a new model aiming to dominate the AI world. It offers faster response time and natively multimodal capabilities, accepting various inputs and generating different outputs in real time. OpenAI hopes to attract more users with the free GPT-4o model, with paid options available at $5 and $15 for one million tokens.

GPT-4o by OpenAI boasts a response time similar to human conversation, using fewer tokens for different languages. It merges text, audio, and vision capabilities into a single model, simplifying the input-output process. While still refining the model’s behavior and addressing risks, OpenAI offers the free use of GPT-4o to all users.

Competition in the AI world heats up as OpenAI challenges rivals like Google and Anthropic with its new GPT-4o model. Google’s Gemini and Gemma offerings, along with Anthropic’s Claude 3, aim to provide AI solutions for various tasks at different price points. Microsoft, Elon Musk’s xAI, and regional entities like Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute also enter the AI race.

Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute and Core42 launch Falcon 2 and Jais Chat, respectively, as competitors to models developed by Meta, Google, and OpenAI. Falcon 2 is the latest large language model, while Jais Chat is a bilingual Arabic and English chatbot available for free download on Apple’s iPhones.

As competition intensifies in the AI landscape, OpenAI’s new GPT-4o model aims to offer faster response times, natively multimodal capabilities, and simplified input-output processes. With free and paid options available, OpenAI hopes to attract more users and establish a strong presence in the ever-evolving generative AI world.
