US antitrust enforcers will investigate Microsoft, Nvidia, and OpenAI for their roles in the AI boom. The US Department of Justice will investigate Nvidia, while the FTC will look into Microsoft and OpenAI. Officials are wary of monopolies in the rapidly advancing AI industry, with a close eye on relationships between startups and tech giants.

Lina Khan from the FTC highlighted the scrutiny into deals that could give dominant firms unfair influence. The UK has also begun inquiries into tech companies’ partnerships with AI startups, including Microsoft’s relationship with Mistral AI and Amazon’s with Anthropic. European regulators are checking if Microsoft’s investment in OpenAI complies with merger laws.
