Vestager sent information requests to big tech companies about their AI partnerships, expressing concerns over dominance in new technology. Microsoft’s deal with OpenAI is not subject to EU merger rules, but regulators are monitoring potential anticompetitive effects. Google’s arrangement with Samsung to pre-install AI on devices is also being investigated. Additionally, regulators are examining “acqui-hires” to prevent concentration of talent in big tech companies.
