Amazon buys assets of Indian video streaming service MX Player

Amazon has agreed to acquire assets of Indian video streaming service MX Player from Times Internet, finalizing a deal valued at under $100 million on Wednesday. The move will help Amazon expand its brand presence in smaller cities and towns across India, offering customers new products and services through Prime Video and miniTV.

The agreement marks a significant step for Amazon in India and follows nearly two years of discussions between the two companies. Times Internet and Times Group have been actively divesting digital assets, making way for Amazon to acquire specific assets of MX Player to enhance its entertainment offerings in the country.
