American Airlines and union unable to agree on new contract, potential strike looming

American Airlines flight attendants represented by the APFA did not reach an agreement with the carrier after talks this week, moving closer to a possible strike. The NMB must grant permission for a strike, a process involving determining whether parties are at an impasse. Negotiations started in January 2020, and resumed in June 2021. The airline previously offered 17% wage increases, which were rejected by the union.
