Anthropic’s new AI model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, surpasses OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, offering better performance, speed, and cost efficiency. Former OpenAI employees founded Anthropic and believe superintelligence could be achieved this decade. Claude 3.5 outperformed OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Google’s Gemini across various benchmarks.

Despite skepticism around AI benchmarks, Anthropic claims Claude 3.5 excels in writing, understanding nuance, humor, and complex instructions. Additionally, Claude 3.5 Sonnet for vision can process data visually, including charts, graphs, and transcribing text from imperfect images. Artifacts feature allows users to collaborate and iterate on AI-generated content in real-time.

Anthropic offers free access to Claude 3.5 through claude.ai and the Claude iOS app, including higher rate limits for existing subscribers. The company plans to upgrade its other AI models, Claude 3 Haiku and Claude 3 Opus, with the new 3.5 technology later this year.
