Apple Inc. is in discussions with Meta Platforms to potentially integrate the Facebook parent’s generative AI model into Apple Intelligence. The tech major had previously announced a partnership with OpenAI to enhance its voice assistant Siri with ChatGPT capabilities. Apple is also exploring partnerships with AI companies in various regions, including China.

At its annual developers conference, Apple announced new AI-powered features and the integration of Apple Intelligence into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. The personal intelligence system will offer ChatGPT access for users to access expertise, image, and document-understanding capabilities seamlessly. Apple Intelligence will be available in beta this fall for U.S. English users.

Apple Intelligence will be available on select devices such as iPhone 15 Pro and iPad and Mac with M1 and later. Despite concerns raised by Elon Musk, Apple clarified that its integration with OpenAI is optional, and it primarily uses its own AI technology. The tech major continues to expand its AI capabilities and partnerships to enhance user experiences.
