Bank of Canada cuts interest rate, with predictions of more cuts in 2024

Economists from major Canadian banks analyze the BoC rate cut announcement. BMO’s chief economist predicts a cut in July if inflation remains low. TD expects a September cut. CIBC forecasts a 25bp reduction in July and three more cuts by the end of 2024. RBC also predicts a July cut and three more cuts by the end of 2024. Desjardins and National Bank economists are cautious about the pace of rate cuts in 2024.
