Last month, OpenAI introduced the GPT-4o model with an impressive Voice Mode for ChatGPT users. The rollout of Voice Mode to ChatGPT Plus users has been delayed by one month for further improvements and infrastructure enhancements to support real-time conversations.
OpenAI will deploy Voice Mode in alpha with a small user group next month, with plans to enable access for all ChatGPT Plus users by the end of the year. The rollout timeline will depend on user feedback and reception of the new feature.
OpenAI is also preparing to introduce video and screen sharing features on ChatGPT. After a controversy involving Scarlett Johansson, OpenAI removed a voice similar to her character in the movie ‘Her’. The company is now working to unveil new voices for the advanced Voice Mode upon release.
