Ilya Sutskever, co-founder of ChatGPT maker OpenAI, launches new AI company Safe Superintelligence focused on creating a safe AI environment amidst the generative AI boom. The American firm has offices in Palo Alto and Tel Aviv, with a singular focus on safety, security, and progress insulated from commercial pressures, according to an announcement on X.
Safe Superintelligence co-founders include former OpenAI researcher Daniel Levy and Daniel Gross, co-founder of Cue and former Apple AI lead. Sutskever’s departure from OpenAI in May followed CEO Sam Altman’s firing and rehiring last year, where Sutskever was removed from the board upon Altman’s return.
