Illinois Republican party chairman Don Tracy resigned due to internal party conflicts, less than a month before the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin. Tracy cited continual power struggles and local animosities within the party as his reason for stepping down. The party will hold its national convention in Milwaukee from July 15 to 18, with Donald Trump expected to be nominated as the party’s candidate for the Nov. 5 election. Tracy’s resignation is effective upon the election of a new chairman, preferably by July 19.
