Asian stock market movements were mostly downward on Tuesday, with the Nikkei slightly up but MSCI’s index outside Japan down 0.5%, as Chinese blue chips and the Hang Seng Index fell. Foreign judges quitting in Hong Kong and right-wing parties’ success in the EU added to caution in markets.

All eyes are on the US Fed meeting on Wednesday, with expectations of steady rates but focus on rate projections. Analysts predict potential rate cuts with a slim forecast for consumer price inflation in May. Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan may taper bond buying, supporting the yen.

European assets stabilized after a snap election announcement in France, with the euro steady but French bonds under pressure. Investors await updates on Britain’s labour market and inflation data, while gold holds near one-month lows and oil prices consolidate ahead of supply and demand reports. Brent futures were steady at $81.62 a barrel.
