Nvidia partners with Ooredoo to deploy AI technology in data centres across the Middle East, marking its first large-scale launch in the region. The deal allows Ooredoo to offer clients in six countries direct access to Nvidia’s AI and graphics processing technology. The agreement aims to enhance generative AI applications for customers. The deal’s value remains undisclosed, signed at the TM Forum in Copenhagen.

Ooredoo CEO, Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, highlights the competitive advantage the agreement brings to B2B clients, granting access to cutting-edge services ahead of competitors for the next 18 to 24 months. The technology installation in data centres will depend on availability and demand, leveraging Nvidia’s expertise in the region. Washington permits the export of some Nvidia technology to the Middle East while restricting high-end chip exports.

Ooredoo is investing $1 billion to expand regional data centre capacity by 20-25 megawatts, planning to triple it by the end of the decade. Following a similar strategy with the tower company deal with Zain and TASC Towers Holding, Ooredoo plans to separate its data centers into a distinct entity. Future plans involve carving out the undersea cables and fiber network into a separate entity, enhancing operational efficiency and focus.
