OpenAI has acquired Rockset, a search and database analytics startup, in a stock deal valued at a few hundred million dollars. Rockset, founded by former Meta engineers, specializes in real-time data processing and AI-powered applications, with $105 million in total funding. The deal will enhance OpenAI’s enterprise products, like ChatGPT.

Rockset’s team will join OpenAI to improve retrieval infrastructure, allowing quicker access and analysis of large data sets. This will result in faster and more accurate responses from AI models. OpenAI, valued at $86 billion, is expanding its offerings to compete with Google and Anthropic in the AI space. They aim to sell tools for rapid data indexing and searching to large enterprises.
