ChatGPT, the AI chatbot by OpenAI, gained immense popularity since its launch in November 2022. Anthropic, a company founded by ex-OpenAI employees, has introduced its latest generative AI model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, claiming it to be their most capable model yet, surpassing benchmarks like GPT-4o in various tests.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet excels in text and image analysis, demonstrating improved performance in reading comprehension, coding, mathematics, and vision tasks. It also shows better understanding of nuanced instructions and humour, while being twice as fast as its predecessor, Claude 3 Opus, making it ideal for prompt responses in applications like customer service chatbots.

With enhanced vision capabilities, Claude 3.5 Sonnet can accurately interpret charts, transcribe text from distorted images, and shows progress in architectural modifications and new training data utilization. Michael Gerstenhaber, Anthropic’s product lead, emphasizes the practical benefits of these advancements for businesses, stating that the model excels in meeting business needs effectively.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet has a context window similar to Claude 3 Sonnet, capable of analyzing up to 200,000 tokens before generating new text, beneficial for handling complex tasks. The new model is now accessible to users through Anthropic’s web client, Claude iOS app for free users, and paid plans like Claude Pro and Claude Team for higher rate limits. Access is also available through Anthropic’s API and managed platforms like Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI.
