OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has reportedly doubled its annualized revenue to $3.4 billion in the last six months, up from $1.6 billion at the end of last year. Most revenue came from a subscription version of ChatGPT and from developers paying to use its large language models.

OpenAI also receives about $200 million annually from Microsoft, which gives OpenAI a cut of sales on Microsoft’s Azure platform. OpenAI disputed the reported financial figures but did not specify which details were inaccurate.

Apple has announced a partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its operating systems for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. This will allow Siri to access ChatGPT to answer questions, although the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
