Rivian Automotive upgrades 2025 R1 pickup and SUV models with Nvidia chips, new batteries, and electrical architecture for improved range and performance. New computing power delivers 10 times more performance, along with driver-assistant features and hands-free driving capabilities. Lower-priced “R2” models set to launch in the first half of 2026.
Changes to current models aim to boost sales as Rivian faces slowing demand and financial challenges. Stock down 50% year to date, with the company reporting a loss of $1.45 billion in the first quarter. Construction of a new plant in Georgia paused, saving $2.25 billion for the struggling automaker.
New pricing announced for updated R1S and R1T models, with second-generation SUV starting at $75,900 and top-end trimotor models at $106,000. Tri-motor R1T remains priced at $69,900 with top models exceeding $100,000. Improved battery packs and drive units offer increased power, acceleration, and range, with faster charging times and luxurious interiors.
