Stocks Close Flat as “Fear Gauge” Pops

Stocks ended the day flat, ahead of the Fed meeting. Nvidia’s 10-1 stock split didn’t prevent the Nasdaq from a third consecutive loss. Meanwhile, the VIX ended a three-day losing streak.
Delta Air Lines plans to introduce premium economy on transcontinental flights in September. Gas prices dropped 10 cents in the past week. The sustainability of the crypto rally is being questioned.
Gold and oil saw modest gains. WTI crude rose 2.9% to $77.74 per barrel, the highest since February. Gold recovered from Friday’s losses, closing up 0.2% at $2,328.50 an ounce.
