Apple and Meta were reportedly in talks for a partnership on AI models for iOS 18, but Cupertino rejected this collaboration. OpenAI’s GPT remains the only model available on Apple devices apart from Apple Intelligence and Siri. Meta will not be joining iOS 18 as a partner after all.

After rejecting a possible partnership with Meta, Apple is no longer in talks for integrating AI developments into iOS 18. Instead, OpenAI will be another option to offer AI models on Apple devices. Siri may tap into OpenAI models for content delivery alongside Apple Intelligence.

Reports suggest that Apple rejected a partnership with Meta months ago due to disagreements over privacy policies. Apple focuses on security for its users, with no current plans for integration. Negotiations with OpenAI began in April for delivering AI models on Apple devices, including the famous ChatGPT platform.

Before WWDC 2024, there were speculations about Apple’s partnership with OpenAI to use their AI models in iOS 18. Apple confirmed a focus on Apple Intelligence alongside OpenAI integration. Reports about Meta partnership were shut down, with no plans for integration from the social media company.
