Spain’s Rafael Nadal played against Germany’s Alexander Zverev at The French Open. Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT Sports will be the new U.S. broadcaster for the event from 2025. The 10-year deal averages $65 million per year, making Warner Bros. Discovery the largest global broadcast partner for the Grand Slam tournament with 675,000 spectators this year. TNT, TBS, and TruTV will air matches with on-site coverage from Roland Garros Stadium. Warner Bros. Discovery is expanding its sports streaming service Venu with Disney’s ESPN and Fox. The company’s focus on live sports acquisitions includes the French Open, NHL, NASCAR, U.S. Soccer, and more, with negotiations ongoing for NBA broadcast rights. As Hollywood wrestles with challenges like the writers’ strike and cost-cutting, media companies like Warner Bros. Discovery increasingly turn to sports for larger audiences and ad revenue.
