In afternoon trading, Materials stocks are performing well, down just 0.1%. Albemarle Corp. (ALB) and Nucor Corp. (NUE) stand out, gaining 7.8% and 1.4%. The Materials Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLB) closely follows, down 0.4% for the day and up 4.07% year-to-date. ALB is down 30.24% and NUE is down 11.40% year-to-date.

The Services sector is the next best performer, down 0.3%. Amazon.com Inc (AMZN) and Carnival Corp (CCL) lead with gains of 4.4% and 3.6%. The iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF (IYC) is up 0.8% and 7.96% year-to-date. AMZN is up 28.06% and CCL is down 0.38% year-to-date.

Looking at S&P 500 components, no sectors are up, with nine sectors down. Materials are down 0.1%, Services down 0.3%, Healthcare down 0.4%, Consumer Products down 0.5%, Utilities down 0.5%, Industrial down 0.5%, Technology & Communications down 0.6%, Financial down 0.7%, and Energy down 1.2%.
