$2.5 billion worth of Bitcoin transferred between unknown wallets, possibly linked to Mt. Gox

The crypto market sees a mysterious transfer of 37,477 BTC, valued over $2.5 billion, between unknown wallets. Speculations arise about the identities behind these wallets. Data from Arkham Intelligence suggests the addresses belong to Mt. Gox, once a major crypto exchange that went bankrupt in 2014.

Mt. Gox initiates repayment to creditors by transferring BTC. Recent movements include transferring 2,239 BTC worth $149 million to Bitstamp, part of a series of transactions. These transfers may be related to the exchange’s bankruptcy repayment plan. The price of Bitcoin drops by 1.3% to $66,666 in response to the news.
