Apple issued a global warning to iPhone users in 98 countries about potential spyware threats, marking the second alert this year after April’s caution to users in 92 nations. The targeted warning identified users falling victim to a mercenary spyware attack aiming to compromise their iPhones remotely.

While the company did not disclose specific countries affected by the recent wave of spyware attacks, Indian users confirmed receiving the warning. Apple emphasized the sensitivity of the situation, advising affected users not to share further details that could help attackers evade detection, as reported by TechCrunch.

Spyware, including NSO Group’s Pegasus, is increasingly targeting iPhones. Although Apple’s Lockdown Mode can counter spyware, users should remain vigilant for signs like device slowdowns or unrecognized apps. Rebooting the device may temporarily disrupt spyware, along with ensuring the iPhone runs the latest iOS software via manual updates in Settings > General > Software Update.
