Boeing is still facing challenges in building two delayed Air Force One planes, to be delivered by 2027 and 2028, instead of the original 2024 deadline. The company has lost over $2 billion on the project due to supply chain issues, inflation, and workforce challenges.
The Boeing 747-8 aircraft are being modified to serve as an airborne White House with advanced communication and self-defense systems. The Biden administration decided to keep the traditional blue and white paint scheme for Air Force One, reversing a decision made by Trump during his presidency.
Boeing’s CEO admitted that the cost of replacing Air Force One was initially underestimated, with the current total exceeding the $4 billion limit set by Trump in 2016. The U.S. Government Accountability Office warned of further delays in the program due to labor market constraints and supply chain disruptions.
