Elon Musk launched xAI last summer, hiring founding members from tech giants like Google and Microsoft. One of the original members, Kyle Kosic, left xAI after 11 months and returned to rival OpenAI. Musk has positioned xAI as a safety-focused A.I. company, emphasizing its ties to his other ventures in investor presentations.

xAI’s chatbot Grok was released last year and new versions, Grok 2 and Grok 3, are set to launch later this year. The startup was recently valued at $24 billion after raising $6 billion, with plans to build a data center in Memphis for enhanced computing capacity. Despite having 97 employees, xAI is actively hiring for various A.I. roles.
