Japan's Nikkei 225 hits new highs, Singapore retail sales data await

Asia-Pacific markets were mostly up, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 hitting new highs. Japan’s household spending for May unexpectedly dipped 1.8%, with average monthly income up 6.4% in nominal terms. Investors await retail sales data from Singapore. South Korea’s Kospi was up 0.45%, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 dipped 0.14%.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index futures were lower, while U.S. markets were closed for the Independence Day holiday. Nasdaq 100 futures were down 0.1%, S&P 500 futures traded below the flatline, and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were 0.05% up. Japan’s Nikkei 225 climbed 0.46%, while Topix extended gains by 0.06% to a fresh high.
