Data shows only 18% of UK companies are led by women, but female entrepreneurs are on the rise. Men receive more funding, higher average loans. Money blog reporter Jess Sharp interviews successful women in business. Denise Gosney, founder of Razzamataz, shares her story of overcoming childhood hardships. From an airing cupboard bedroom to dancing on cruise ships, Denise started Razzamataz at 27 with £200. She secured a £50,000 investment on Dragons’ Den, eventually buying back shares. Despite setbacks, including miscarriages, IVF, and children’s health issues, Denise has grown Razzamataz to a £1.5m company. Her advice: work hard, keep overheads low, research, and have passion.
