OpenAI and Arianna Huffington are teaming up to create an AI health coach backed by Thrive AI Health. This project utilizes AI to enhance personalized health management.
The AI health coach will be trained on scientific data and user-provided biometric and medical information, according to an op-ed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Huffington in Time magazine.
DeCarlos Love, ex-Google executive, is appointed as CEO of Thrive AI Health. The company collaborates with Stanford Medicine, West Virginia University, and others, with funding from the Alice L. Walton Foundation.
AI health coaching is on the rise, with companies like Fitbit and Whoop developing similar technologies. Thrive AI Health plans to offer insights tailored to individual health needs.
Though AI health coaching shows promise, concerns linger about data privacy and accuracy. The focus is on promoting positive changes in sleep, nutrition, fitness, stress, and social connections, without providing medical diagnoses.
The op-ed discusses AI’s potential in medicine, from drug development to diagnostics. However, gaining trust for an AI health product handling sensitive data poses a significant challenge.
