OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy is launching Eureka, an “AI native” school merging education and artificial intelligence. With recent advancements in generative AI, AI Teaching Assistants can support teachers in guiding students through course materials. This comes after his resignation from OpenAI and Tesla.

Karpathy’s new venture Eureka Labs aims to offer an ideal learning experience by leveraging AI. Bloomberg notes his significance in the AI sector, having also worked as Tesla’s senior AI director. This follows another ex-OpenAI executive’s launch of Safe Superintelligence, signaling an evolution from OpenAI’s original mission of developing AGI for all humanity.

OpenAI, a pioneer in advanced AI technologies like DALL·E and ChatGPT, has received billions in investments from Microsoft and other benefactors. Despite success, it faces criticism for a shift towards commercial focus. However, initiatives like Eureka Labs and Safe Superintelligence suggest continued innovation and exploration in the AI space.
