OpenAI and Microsoft are being sued by the Center for Investigative Reporting for training their AI on copyrighted material without consent. The lawsuit claims that OpenAI and Microsoft used CIR’s articles to enhance their products. More than 17,000 webpage addresses from Mother Jones were included in OpenAI’s dataset to train AI products. Users can protect their data from Meta’s AI training by making their accounts private, although this isn’t a complete solution.
