Despite OpenAI’s efforts to restrict access to its products in China, a report reveals that Chinese users can still access the firm’s AI models through Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform. This comes after OpenAI announced plans to cut off Chinese API access. Microsoft continues to offer OpenAI services through Azure, providing customizable AI solutions to enterprises.

Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI service allows users to integrate data and run custom queries using AI language and image models. This partnership between Microsoft and OpenAI offers a diverse range of AI products, including those from Meta. Despite restrictions in China, Microsoft will continue to offer Azure OpenAI services in Hong Kong. Reports suggest Microsoft receives a significant portion of OpenAI’s profits through this collaboration.
