Rivian and Volkswagen announced a partnership with Volkswagen investing $5 billion in Rivian. The investment will be split into a $1 billion initial injection, a plan for a $3 billion stake over time, and a $2 billion investment in a joint venture to supply future vehicles. The cash will help Rivian scale in the EV industry. FedEx’s year focusing on costs has paid off, showing a positive macro picture. Adam Ante, CFO of Paycor, discusses the company’s positioning in the payroll and HR software landscape, and the investment thesis behind naming an NFL stadium. Rivian’s market value is currently at $15 billion, and may grow as Volkswagen builds its stake. Volkswagen’s interest in Rivian’s software-defined vehicle architecture and zonal hardware design aims to solve their own software issues. Even though the market reacted with a yawn, this partnership could set Volkswagen up for future growth.
