Sales of derivative-linked securities in Korea dropped in Q1, with concerns over losses from Chinese stocks

Sales of derivative-linked securities in Korea dropped in the first quarter due to concerns over losses from products tracking Chinese stocks. The combined value of equity-linked securities and derivative-linked securities issued was 13 trillion won, down from 34.5 trillion won in the previous quarter and 14.9 trillion won from the same period last year. Sales of new ELS products fell to 8 trillion won, while DLS products rose to 5 trillion won. The value of outstanding ELS products decreased to 59.2 trillion won, while DLS products increased to 28.9 trillion won.
