S&P Futures Tick Higher Ahead of FOMC Meeting, U.S. JOLTs Report and Microsoft Earnings in Focus

September S&P 500 E-Mini futures are up +0.17% as markets await the Federal Reserve meeting and U.S. job openings data. Wall Street ended mixed yesterday, with gains from ON Semiconductor and Tesla. McDonald’s climbed despite disappointing Q2 results, while Arm slumped after a downgrade. The Fed is expected to keep interest rates unchanged.

Second-quarter earnings reports are in focus, with Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, and others releasing results today. U.S. JOLTs Job Openings data and CB Consumer Confidence Index are expected. Bond market yields are up, and the Euro Stoxx 50 futures are also rising. Preliminary economic data from Europe was released today.

China’s Shanghai Composite Index drops on weak sentiment despite plans to boost growth. The Politburo will introduce more policy support for the economy focusing on consumption stimulation and job creation. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 closed slightly higher with gains in real estate and healthcare stocks. BOJ is set to announce monetary policy decisions.

Pre-market U.S. stock movers include Sprouts Farmers, F5 Networks, and Symbotic. Microsoft, P&G, Merck&Co, AMD, and Pfizer are among companies reporting earnings today.
