Court dismisses most claims in lawsuit against GitHub, Microsoft, and OpenAI over Copilot AI.

A judge has dismissed most claims against GitHub, Microsoft, and OpenAI in a copyright lawsuit, leaving only two claims standing for open-source license violation and breach of contract.

The lawsuit accused the trio of copyright violations through the AI-powered GitHub Copilot coding assistant, but the court found that the suggested code wasn’t similar enough to original work.

Despite this ruling, the lawsuit is not over as litigation will continue on claims related to breach of contract and open-source license violations.
