The WNBA’s media rights deal includes a price reevaluation after the 2028 season due to the league’s rising popularity. The WNBA-specific contract is worth $2.2 billion for 11 seasons, with an average of $200 million per year. NBA partners Disney, NBCUniversal, and Amazon will reassess the value of the league’s rights after the 2028 season.
The NBA worked with Endeavor Group to assess the value of WNBA rights, initially estimated at $125 million per year. Due to increased interest in the league, media partners allocated an average of $200 million per year for the WNBA. The league will explore additional revenue opportunities through outside partnerships with media companies.
The WNBA has achieved record-breaking TV ratings, with over 16 nationally televised games reaching 1 million viewers. Attendance has also soared this season, with Commissioner Cathy Engelbert noting significant growth in team attendance. The league may generate an additional $60 million in annual revenue through outside media partnerships and advertising revenue shares.
