The UK’s average household energy bill is set to rise by 9% in October due to changes to the energy price cap, reaching £1,714 annually. Cornwall Insight previously predicted a 9.9% increase to £1,723. Additional modest rises may occur in January 2025 due to geopolitical tensions. Ofgem will announce the cap for October to December on August 23. Craig Lowrey warns that despite recent falls in the cap, energy prices remain volatile and market instability could become the new normal.
