Chinese EV company Zeekr says its battery can charge faster than Tesla

Zeekr Intelligent Technology Holding Limited had a successful IPO on May 10, 2024, and the New York Stock Exchange welcomed the Chinese electric car brand into the market.

Zeekr announced new batteries with ultra-fast charging technology, boasting an impressive 10.5 minutes to go from 10% to 80% charge, even in cold weather. This addresses consumer concerns about driving range and ease of charging.

In comparison, Tesla’s superchargers can charge up to 200 miles in 15 minutes, and the Model 3 can recharge 175 miles in the same time, approximately 48% of its 363-mile range.

Nio, another Chinese automaker, offers a three-minute battery swap service, changing out batteries at designated swap stations. Zeekr’s 2025 007 sedan will be the first model to use the new batteries.

Zeekr plans to double its 500 ultra-fast charging stations in China by the end of the year, aiming to operate over 10,000 such stations by 2026. The Geely-owned company achieved record vehicle deliveries in June, leading U.S.-listed Chinese firms selling only pure electric cars, though deliveries dipped slightly in July.
