Coherent Corp. reports strong Q4 results with revenue growth and improved margins.

Coherent Corp. reported Q4 revenue of $1.314 billion, representing a 9.1% increase year-over-year. GAAP gross margin was 32.9%, up 437 basis points Y/Y, while non-GAAP gross margin was 37.2%, up 132 bps Y/Y. Q4 GAAP EPS was ($0.52), a $1.02 improvement Y/Y, with non-GAAP EPS of $0.61, a 49% improvement Y/Y.

CEO Jim Anderson expressed excitement about Coherent’s potential and growth opportunities, highlighting the strengths and areas for improvement within the company. Interim CFO Rich Martucci noted a 9% sequential revenue increase in Q4, driven by AI-related strength in Datacom transceiver business, resulting in enhanced GAAP and non-GAAP operating margin.

Coherent achieved 10% sequential revenue growth in the Communications market in Q4, driven by strong growth in 800G AI-related Datacom transceiver revenue. The company shipped over 300 million Datacom transceivers from its Ipoh, Malaysia facility. Additionally, Coherent received its first volume order for Linebeam annealing systems for Gen 8 fabs.

Looking ahead to Q1 of fiscal 2025, Coherent projects revenue of $1.27 billion to $1.35 billion, with a gross margin between 36% and 38% on a non-GAAP basis. Operating expenses are expected to be between $260 million and $280 million, and EPS to range from $0.53 to $0.69 on a non-GAAP basis.
