Delta Air Lines’ chief operating officer, Mike Spanos, is leaving at the end of the month to take a job at another company, according to CEO Ed Bastian. Spanos’ departure comes after just over a year on the job and weeks following a $500 million meltdown due to a CrowdStrike outage.

Delta Air Lines does not plan to replace Spanos. Instead, John Laughter and Allison Ausband will report directly to CEO Ed Bastian. Spanos joined Delta in May 2023 and previously held executive roles at Six Flags Entertainment and PepsiCo.
