Figure unveils new humanoid robot with improved AI capabilities, aiming to address labor shortages

Figure unveiled its Figure 02 conversational humanoid robot utilizing NVIDIA Omniverse and GPUs for autonomous tasks. The robot underwent testing at BMW’s production line in South Carolina. Figure accelerated development using NVIDIA Isaac Sim and GPU training. The company aims to address labor shortages with industrial humanoid robots and has secured $675 million in funding.

The Figure 02 robot now features a second NVIDIA RTX GPU module, boosting its inference capabilities for real-world AI tasks. With human-scale hands and six RGB cameras, the robot can handle high-precision pick-and-place tasks for smart manufacturing. Figure is part of the NVIDIA Humanoid Robot Developer Program, receiving early access to cutting-edge tools and technologies.

NVIDIA is collaborating with Figure to drive innovation in humanoid robotics, leveraging AI training, simulation, and robotic technologies from edge to cloud. The partnership aims to develop custom AI models for Figure’s robots, enhancing conversational AI capabilities. This collaboration underscores the potential for humanoid robotics to address industry labor challenges and create consumer versions in the future.
