Gavin Wood, co-founder of Ethereum, Polkadot, and Web3, advocates for fee-free cryptocurrency transactions to enable Web3 technology’s full potential. He introduced “proof-of-ink,” a tattoo-based Web3 identity solution. Wood and Vitalik Buterin once considered removing Ether from Ethereum to enhance scalability. Wood emphasized the need to separate Ethereum from Ether for mass Web3 adoption. Polkadot’s JAM chain aims to make crypto transactions fee-less, potentially achieved through developing “Web3 identity.” Wood criticizes the lack of long-term value projects in the market, warning of unsustainable investments in short-term gains. He suggests that Ethereum and other blockchains may not be immune to this trend, except for Bitcoin, due to its unique store of value function.
