Amazon Offers Wage Hike, Free Prime Membership To Hourly Workers

Amazon announced a wage increase for hourly warehouse workers, with average total compensation now over $29/hour. This includes an additional $1.50/hour for front-line team members, bringing their average base wage to over $22/hour. The pay increase represents a total investment of more than $2.2 billion for over 800,000 employees in the U.S.

In addition to the wage increase, Amazon is offering benefits like health care, dental coverage, 401(k) with company match, flexible hours, and pre-paid college tuition. Team members can now enroll in language classes from day one and will receive a free Prime subscription starting early next year while working for Amazon.

Last week, Amazon raised wages for contracted delivery drivers to a national average of nearly $22/hour, a 7% increase over last year. The company also announced a $2.1 billion investment this year into the Amazon Delivery Service Partner program.
