China’s stock market rose as investors were encouraged by hints of easing in trade tensions with the US. The Shanghai Composite Index closed 1.1% higher, while the Shenzhen Component Index gained 1.8%. This optimism comes as US and Chinese officials discuss potential solutions to the ongoing trade dispute.

The Hong Kong Observatory issued a T8 storm signal, warning of strong winds and heavy rain. The city experienced flooding and fallen trees as a result of the typhoon, which is now moving towards China’s Fujian province.
